Two of our favourite Columbians proudly made it to the Forbes top 100 powerful women this year again! Shakira was noted due to her contribution to charity and involvement in the UN programs and Sofia Vergara was acknowledged for her success in Hollywood as the highest paid latina actress on television and her recent developments as entrepreneur.
Forbes determines the candidates based on the values and the standards these women set up for younger generation and ranks them based on their personal fortune, influence, media presence and social impact.
We are proud two present two women with character and influence, two amazing inspirational BLONDES!
One of the few natural BLONDES that actually had to go brunette to respond to the misconception that all latinas are brunetes. Few years sacrifice that she can put behind her now and enjoy her natural amazing glow! A big round of applause for an amazing entrepreneur and yeah, the best paid actress on TV;)
The actress’ appearance during this year’s Emmy Awards ceremony (where she was literally put on a pedestal and made to spin around) might have angered some female viewers, but Vergara is much more than just a pretty face — she’s the co-founder of Latin World Entertainment, a multi-million dollar empire. The talent management and entertainment-marketing firm recently teamed up with CNET to launch a Spanish-language tech news site. Vergara’s brand also continues to grow thanks to her 12-year deal with Kmart, a strategic move to better appeal to Hispanic shoppers
Shiny, sparkling, gorgeous! Can Shakira be more than that?;) of course, our BLONDES inspiration never stops!!!
Born in Columbia, Shakira is a truly global superstar. Since launching her music career at age 13, she’s sold more than 60 million albums worldwide, making her Colombia’s highest-selling artist of all time. In late 2014, Shakira announced a global partnership with Fisher-Price to develop a 12-part Web series and new line of toys. The singer-philanthropist’s profits from the deal are earmarked for her Barefoot Foundation, which she founded at 18 to provide early education systems around the world and build schools in Colombia. In 2011 Shakira was appointed by President Obama to the President’s Advisory Commission on Educational Excellence for Hispanics, and she is currently a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador.
